2010 PERFORMANCE UPDATE
“ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME”
Monday June 28, 2010
6:30pm
Rhode Island College, Roberts Auditorium
600 Mt Pleasant Ave. Providence, RI
D R E S S R E H E A R S A L: Monday 6/28/10 @ 9:30am
A mandatory Dress Rehearsal for our performance will be held the morning of the show, Monday
June 28, 2010 at Rhode Island College. Call time for each class is attached. Students may leave after their last dance is
rehearsed and be back for 5:30pm. Please do not drop your student off, one parent or guardian must be present with each child.
Exceptions are for Theatre company, Teen company and Senior company students. These students should plan to stay at RIC all
day, pack lots of water and healthy snacks with protein! You will have a long day.
Please make sure you have
the proper color tights, shoes and accessories needed for the costume. All costume information is available in the costume
book in our reception area and also on our web site at www.talentfactoryri.com. Students must arrive in their 1st costume. Hair and make-up is not necessary for rehearsal.
All performers and staff are to attend the dress rehearsal at RIC. The dates of our rehearsal and performance have
been given with months in advance so we ask that you do not plan any other event on these dates. Your performers, staff and
production crew work very hard all season to bring you this fantastic show.
When performers miss the dress rehearsal or the
performance, this causes an adverse affect on other performers, staff and crew. Choreography is the art of creating dances
and one of the criteria is based on the number of students in class. Often, partnering is created and lines and rows
depend on every student’s participation. When a student is absent, it jeopardizes the entire number that has been choreographed
specifically for your child's class. It is imperative that your students participate when the commitment has already been
made. Please do not take this production lightly, it is necessary once the commitment has been made, that you follow through.
Photos and video may be taken at rehearsal, but not at the performance.
Flash photography and video are not allowed at our performance.
For newcomers, you will be
most pleasantly surprised and will come away amazed at what you have seen. Our shows have a story-line with dancers, singers
and actors. The lighting and curtain cues all take place the day of rehearsal. Each dance has a specific lighting cue, based
on the choreographer's wishes and based on the color of the costumes. The actors and singers must do sound checks, the
teachers have to all make sure their students know where they need to be on the stage. Blocking is imperative since the
stage is not the same size as the studio. Some dances may have to run more than once. As you can see, attending dress rehearsal
is indeed a necessary part of our production. The dress rehearsal can be long, upwards to four hours. Please bring snacks
and drinks, but do not bring anything into the audience. (Performers may leave once their numbers are done.) When the
show begins, you will sit back with joy and be amazed as you watch your performers shine on stage.
